Time is of the essence in such cases, Voss explained. It generally is thought that finding a missing senior within three hours greatly diminishes their chances of being harmed.
Voss, a retired police officer, has seen the results of the program in action.
In 2008, Caledonia police were alerted to the disappearance of a 60-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease.
